What to Do If You Have 6 Weeks Until Your FNP Exam

Study Plans · 5 min read · March 18, 2026

Six weeks is a strong runway. The students who use it well don't just study more — they study with intention. Here's your week-by-week framework.

"Six weeks is enough time to go from anxious to confident — but only if you build the plan before you start studying."

Week 1: Baseline and Planning

Take a diagnostic practice exam. Score yourself by domain. Build a 6-week study calendar with specific topics assigned to each day. Don't skip this step — a plan is the difference between productive studying and anxious spinning.

Weeks 2–3: Content Mastery by Domain

Work through each content domain systematically: Health Promotion → Assessment → Diagnosis → Clinical Management → Pharmacology → Professional Issues. Don't try to cover everything equally — weight your time toward your weakest areas.

Week 4: Pharmacology Intensive

Dedicate an entire week to pharmacology. Use drug class frameworks, mnemonics, and flashcards. By the end of Week 4, you should be able to recall the mechanism, key side effects, contraindications, and board pearls for every major drug class.

Week 5: Question Bank Immersion

100 questions per day. Every rationale reviewed. Track your performance by domain. Adjust your remaining study time based on where you're still losing points.

Week 6: Simulation and Final Review

Two full-length timed practice exams. Final pharmacology review. No new material after Day 4. Rest, hydrate, and trust your preparation.
